What Happens to the Photos After Your Dog’s Photoshoot?

Have you ever wondered what actually happens to your photos after your dog’s photography session is over?

You’ve spent an hour running around with your dog, laughing at their silly expressions, trying to get their attention, and capturing all those little moments. Then the session ends and I head home with hundreds(sometimes thousands) of images.

But that’s only the beginning.

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes before you receive your final gallery.

First, I Go Through Every Image

After your session, I upload and organize all of the images from your photoshoot onto my computer.

I’ll go through the entire session and carefully choose the strongest images. This isn’t simply about finding the photos where your dog is looking directly at the camera.

I’m looking for personality.

That little head tilt, the goofy expression, the way their ears sit, a beautiful moment of eye contact, and the image that somehow just feels like them.

There can be a lot of photographs from one session, so part of my job is narrowing those down to the images that tell the story of your dog best.

You Get to Choose Your Favourites

Once I’ve gone through your session and narrowed down the images, I’ll send you a proofing gallery.

This gallery gives you the chance to look through the photographs from your session and choose the images you’d like to have fully edited.

This is one of my favourite parts of the process because you get to decide which photographs speak to you the most.

There’s no right or wrong choice. These are your memories, and I want you to choose the images that mean the most to you.

Now the Full Editing Begins

Once you’ve selected your favourite photographs, I’ll begin the full editing process on those images.

I’ll make any necessary adjustments to colour, exposure, lighting and detail, along with more detailed Photoshop work when needed.

This can include removing leashes, people, distracting objects, flies or other things that take away from the photograph.

If an image needs more creative editing or a composite, I’ll take care of that during this stage as well.

The goal is to make sure each photograph you selected is beautifully finished while still looking like your dog.

Finally, Your Gallery Is Ready

Once the final editing is complete, your finished photographs will be delivered through your private online gallery.

Then comes the fun part where you get to download, print, frame and enjoy your photographs!

So, What Are You Really Getting?

A dog photography session isn't just the time we spend together taking photographs.

There’s everything that happens before the session, the time spent photographing your dog, and all of the work that happens afterwards.

When you receive your final images, you’re receiving photographs that have been carefully selected, initially edited, chosen by you, and then individually finished.

Because my goal isn’t to give you hundreds of photographs that all look the same.

Every image has a purpose. Whether it’s a beautiful portrait, a quirky expression, or a moment that captures your dog’s personality, I want each photograph you receive to feel different and meaningful.

I want to give you photographs that make you stop and think, “That’s my dog.”

Because your dog is more than just a pretty face in a photograph. It’s their personality, their quirks, their expressions and all those little things that make them uniquely them that I want to preserve.

And years from now, when your dog has changed, those photographs will still be there to remind you exactly who they were at that stage of their life.
